Mahindra XUV300 Diesel AMT: This is IT [Video]

The all-new XUV300, which was launched earlier this year has gained massive popularity in the market. It already has become the second best-selling product in the market after the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. However, the Mahindra XUV300 is only available with a manual transmission till now. Here is a video by AutoTrend TV that shows the upcoming automatic version of the XUV300.

The video shows the car from the inside and it seems like a test mule, which is why it has over 8,000 km on the odometer. The video clearly shows the automatic transmission’s lever. It is uniquely slotted and gets a squarish slot. It gets reverse on the below, neutral in the middle and automatic operation on the left-hand side. On the top and bottom, the markings saw + and -, which indicate the manual transmission setting for the transmission. On the left-hand side, the slot is marked A/S, it is not known what exactly the S stands. It can stand for “Sports” mode or can be something else altogether.

Nonetheless, it is an AMT transmission and it gets 6-speed, similar to the manual transmission. Interestingly, the vehicle seen in the video is powered by a diesel engine. It is the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that generates a maximum power of 115 Bhp and torque of 300 Nm, which is segment-leading. The engine’s power and torque output are likely to remain the same even with the AMT version. It is not known if the petrol engine of the Mahindra XUV300 is offered with an AMT too.

The launch of the automatic Mahindra XUV300 is expected to happen by the end of this month or early next month. Since the BS-VI regulations are still quite some time away, Mahindra would not want to lose the momentum on the sales chart because of an absent feature. The XUV300, otherwise, is one of the most loaded cars in the segment. It offers all four disc brakes, steering modes, front parking sensors, heated ORVMs, longest wheelbase in the segment and many more such features.

Mahindra is also expected to launch an AMT-equipped Marazzo MPV in the near future. At the time of the launch, Mahindra said that Marazzo automatic will be launched when the engine of the car is upgraded to the BS-VI standard and a petrol engine is introduced in the model. However, with the stiff competition, the launch of the automatic Marazzo is expected to happen in a few month’s time.

Xuv300 Automatic

The Mahindra XUV300 is the most powerful vehicle in the segment. It takes on the highly competitive Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and newly launched Hyundai Venue. All the other cars offer an automatic option and the demand for the automatic transmission is increasing with each passing day.
