Ever since its launch in the last months of 2018, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has gained tremendous popularity among the MPV crowd and has become the top-selling MPV of the country. The older generation Ertiga was a popular choice among cab operators due to its low maintenance and running cost along with comfortable interiors. For the same, Maruti Suzuki has launched an all-new version of the Ertiga MPV that is aimed towards the cab operator fleets. Called the Maruti Suzuki Tour M, it has been priced at Rs. 7.99 lakh according to a report by GaadiWaadi.
Maruti Suzuki has been offering special cab versions of their cars since a long time under the Tour moniker. The Dzire, WagonR and the Celerio are some of the cars that were/are offered in special Tour versions. Joining them now is the Ertiga Tour M, which will cater specifically to the booming taxi market. The Tour M will be offered in only a single variant along with a single engine-gearbox combination. While the regular Ertiga comes with 3 engine options to choose from, the Tour gets powered by only a petrol engine.
The engine powering the MPV is the 1.5-litre petrol unit that does duty on the regular Ertiga and no changes have been made to the engine on the Tour M. This 1.5-litre four-cylinder SHVS engine churns out 104 Bhp of power along with 138 Nm of torque. It is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox on the Tour M. It is said to have a fuel efficiency score of 18.18 km/l on the Tour M.
The Ertiga Tour M is based on the V trim of the regular Ertiga MPV. The Tour M comes with safety features like dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, anti-lock braking system and speed limiting function among others. The top speed of the car has been limited to 80 km/h, which has been done to prevent high-speed driving and prevent crashes. Talking about features, the Tour M comes with a basic audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls. MID with coloured TFT, electrically adjustable ORVM, rear AC vents and dual tone interiors.
Maruti Suzuki has promised a low cost of ownership of these Tour M MPVs, which makes them even more attractive for cab operators. It comes with decent features, is equipped with all the basic safety features like ABS and airbags and has a good mileage of 18.18 km/l, all of which makes it a great option to choose. Speaking of competition, the Tour M does not have any such competition yet. Available at a price of Rs. 7.99 lakh, it makes for a good package for sure for the cab guys across the country.
