2022 Maruti WagonR brochure leaked ahead of official launch

India’s largest car manufacture Maruti Suzuki is working on a 2022 version of  its popular tall boy hatchback WagonR. The updated version of WagonR was spotted during the shoot of a TVC recently. The car is expected to be launched in the market next month. Before its official launch, the brochure for the upcoming hatchback has been leaked online. The leaked brochure shares details about the features and the changes that we would get to see in the upcoming WagonR.

The images have been shared by wheeledmotors on Instagram. Maruti will not be making any major changes to the exterior design of the hatchback. It is expected to get cosmetic changes. One of them will be the paint job. Maruti will be offering a Gallant Red shade with the WagonR. A dual tone colour option will be offered on Gallant Red and Magma Grey colour. The roofs and the ORVMs will be blacked out to give it a sporty look.

Other than this, the WagonR will be offered with new 14 inch alloy wheels. The lower variants will be offered with 13 and 14 inch steel rims. No major changes are expected to be seen on the outside. Brochure clearly shows the list of features that are offered on each variant. The base LXI variant will also come with Idle Start Stop function which will help increase the fuel economy. The LXi variant will have a CNG and petrol Tour variant. It will be powered by a 1.0 litre petrol engine.

The VXI variant of the WagonR will continue to offer all the features that it used to offer before. The only additional feature that is marked in the brochure is the Hill Hold Control feature for AMT or AGS versions. It is also available with the 1.0 petrol engine. Higher variant WagonR will also get a 17.78 cm SmartPlay Studio system with Smartphone navigation, steering mounted controls and 4 speaker premium sound system.

The main change on the 2022 WagonR however is the engine. The lower variants of the WagonR now get a 1.0 litre, K10C series DualJet engine. The higher ZXI varaint gets a 1.2 litre K12N series engine generating  DualJet engine. This engine is a lot more peppier than the outgoing model. The brochure also reveals that the WagonR will offer a fuel efficiency of 25.19 kilometres to a litre. Both the engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT or AGS gearbox.

In the leaked images, the safety features on the 2022 WagonR can also be seen. Maruti is offering features like Hill Hold Control, Seat Belt Pre-tensioner and Force limiter, Speed sensitive auto door lock, Child proof rear door lock, Dual Airbag from base variant, Seat Belt reminder with buzzer, Rear parking sensors, Security Alarm, ABS with EBD, Speed Alert system, Central locking and front fog lamps with the WagonR. Maruti WagonR competes with cars like Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro in the segment. With all these additional features and new colour option, Maruti is most likely to increase the price of the 2022 version slightly  when compared with the outgoing version.
