Gunshots Fired at Salman Khan’s Home in Mumbai; Suspects Identified

In a concerning incident early on Sunday, two people riding a motorcycle shot at the home of famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the Bandra area of Mumbai. The police reported that about five gunshots were fired, though some reports later mentioned the number of shots fired as three. No one was injured in in the incident. Police said that Salman Khan and family members were at the house during the time of the attack.

The attack occurred at around 5 am in the morning. In the CCTV video of the incident, we can see the motorcycle slowing down and the pillion firing a few shots before speeding away. Police said that the attack was more symbolic in nature, as a threat, and the firing was in the air and not towards any specific targets.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Raj Tilak Roushan, stated, “Two unknown persons came on a motorbike and fired rounds outside actor Salman Khan’s house around 5 am and escaped. We have formed 15 police teams to look into this matter. We are examining the case from all angles and are determined to capture the shooters soon.”

Authorities were able to identify one of the suspects caught on CCTV cameras at Bandra station as Vishal, also known as Kalu, who is known to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This follows at least two prior threats Salman Khan has received from the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang, believed to be related to Khan’s alleged involvement in the killing of a blackbuck, a species considered sacred by the Bishnoi community, in 1998.

Salman Khan, who is provided with Y-category high-level security protection, and his family were in the house at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, no one was hurt. A police officer mentioned that it seemed from the CCTV footage that the shooters fired into the air rather than at any individual, possibly as a symbolic act to cause fear and send a message. Police were seen checking for spent cartridges at the crime scene during the day.

Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post, claiming it as a message to Salman Khan. The police have formed 15 teams to investigate the incident and are determined to capture the shooters soon. Anmol Bishnoi is also the accused in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022.

Anmol Bishnoi is believed to be in Canada, and evades capture by moving between Canada and United States.
